Reading Incentive Programs:
Virginia Readers Choice Students participate in a state wide vote for their favorite book from a selection of high quality contemporary literature. Each student must read at least four of the ten selections on his/her level in order to qualify to vote. (Virginia Readers' Choice website).

Book Trailers for 2015-16 Elementary selections:
Take Home Reading - Students in grades K- 2 are given the opportunity to take books home to read with their parents or caregivers. The purpose of this program is to foster fluency and fun with reading! Books of all types are available and are provided according to suggested reading levels for individual students. This program is run by volunteers. If you wish to help, contact the Reading Resource teacher, or call the school office.
Summer Reading and Math Program - students turn in copies of their reading and math records in September in order to be invited to an Ice Cream Celebration. Students are also encouraged to participate in the local public library Summer Reading program. Rising 5th graders are invited to join an online book club on BiblioNasium.com, a community of readers including teachers, students, and parents.
